یک سیستم تصویربرداری auto- retinal برای استفاده در غربالگری بیماران در معرض خطر بیماریهای شبکیه نظیر اختلالات شبکیه ناشی از دیابت و age-related Macula Degeneration) AMD ) تولیدشده است . شرکت USA) Nidek )، از شرکتهای پیشرو در زمینه ابزارهای تشخیصی و لیزر در بخش بینایی و چشم اعلام کرد که FDA اولین محصول آنها دراین زمینه به نام Orion را تایید کرده است .
با این تاییدیه ، متخصصین چشم ، بینایی سنج ها و پزشکان خانواده قادر به تشخیص بیماریهای شبکیه در بیماران بوده و می توانند بیماران را به متخصصین شبکیه ارجاع دهند تا تشخیص بهتر و درمان انجام گیرد . 0rion با کاربرد آسان به عنوان یک وسیله تصویربرداری خودکار از شبکیه بیماران را قادر می سازد تا بدون کمک یک تکنسین شبکیه خود را بررسی کنند .

An auto-retinal imaging device has been developed for use in screening patients for retinal diseases such as diabetic retinopathy and age-related macular degeneration (AMD).
Nidek, Inc. (Fremont, CA, USA), a developer laser and diagnostic instrumentation for the optical and eye care industry, reported that the U.S. Food & Drug Administration (FDA) has approved the first product of the AutoEase line called Orion. With this approval, ophthalmologists, optometrists, and family physicians are able to identify retinal diseases in patients and refer them to a retinal specialist for further diagnosis and treatment.
With its ease of use as an auto-retinal imaging device, Orion enables patients to screen their retina without the assistance of a technician. The primary method of operation behind the device includes a voice synthesizer. The voice prompts the patient through the screening process and captures a 7-micron high-resolution image of the patient?s retina, which can be electronically sent to a retinal specialist for further diagnosis. Moreover, Orion can screen both retinas of a patient in less than two minutes.
