با افزایش مامو گرافی دیجیتال و CAD،رادیولوژیستها ومتخصصین سایر زمینه ها نیازمند تجربه بیشتری در بررسی موارد ماموگرافی دیجیتال بر روی ایستگاههای کاری تشخیص و ارزیابی مهارتهای تشخیصی خود هستند. برخی رادیولوژیستها بر این باورند که این کار را می توان به صورت تمرین بر روی تصاویر دیجیتالی در همان محل انجام داد.WWW.Prin.Ir) وبه نقل از Medinews.Com ، FDA گزارش کرده است که تنها کمتر از 20% از9000 مرکزی که تاییدیه مامو گرافی را کسب کرده اند به صورت دیجیتال درآمده اند و بیش از 3/2 مراکز دیجیتال نرم افزار CAD را بر روی سیستمهای خود نصب نموده اند .
بنا به گزارش انجمن ملی تولید کنندگان محصولات الکتریکی آمریکاNEMA) ) که اطلاعات تولیدی وصنعتی شرکت های مختلف مثل FUJI ،GE ،Hologic،Philips،Siemense و سایر شرکت های بزرگ را جمع آوری وتجزیه وتحلیل می کند ، بازار تجهیزات مامو گرافی آمریکا در زمینه فروش محصولات خود به شدت رو به رشد است .

با این وجود این کار معمولا خیلی ساده نیست چون محدودیتهای مختلف از جمله راحتی بیمار وهمچنین محدودیت موارد لازم برای نمونه برداری از عواملی هستند که این امکان را محدود می کند. اینها گفته های پروفسور Roland Holland ، مدیر موسسه غربالگری سرطان سینه و دکتر Carl Evertsz ریئس مرکز مراقبتهای پزشکی MeVis می باشند .

دکتر Nico Karssemeijerاز دانشگاه پزشکی و مرکز آموزش وتوسعه ملی Nether Lands))، بر روی سریهای مختلف شامل جنبه های مختلف دیجیتال مامو گرافی مثل توسعه قالب تمرین تشخیص مناسب کار کرده اند . همچنین اولین کارگاه آموزشی تمرین تشخیص دیجیتال در کنفرانس بین المللی سرطان سینه در سیدنی در سال 2004 به ریاست پروفسور Holland و آقای Rijken وبا حمایت MeVis، Hologic ، Siemense ، Barcoبر گزار گردیده است .
کارگاههای دیگر نیز در کنگره اروپایی رادیولوژیستها(ECR) در وین، انجمن رادیولوژیستها آمریکای شمالی (RSNA) و کنفرانس تصویر برداری سینه BIC)) در آمریکا برگزار شده است. هر کدام از اینها به شکل دهی قالب آینده برای کارگاهای آموزشی دیجیتال کمک می کنند.
کارگاههای RSNA در روزهایی که اطلاعیه ثبت نام بر روی RSNA سایت قرار داشت بیش 900 از رادیولوژیست در هر کارگاه شرکت کردند و منتظریم که در سال 2007 نیز مجدداً بر گزار شود .با ادامه حمایت MeVis ،Barco، Hologic ، کارگاه آموزشی بعدی برای BIC, RSNA برنامه ریزی شده است.
Growing Need for Radiologist Training as Breast Cancer Screening Moves to Digital Mammography and CAD

As the penetration of digital mammography and computer-assisted detection (CAD) increases, more radiologists and other healthcare professionals require hands-on experience reading and manipulating digital mammography cases on dedicated diagnostic workstations and an assessment of their mammography softcopy reading skills.
Some radiologists believe this can be done by on-site training on digital mammography workstations; however, on-site training is not easily accomplished due to site network log in limitations and patient confidentiality, and for new sites, a lack of biopsy proven cases to train on, according to Prof. Roland Holland, director of the National Breast Cancer Screening Institute (Nijmegen, the Netherlands) and Carl Evertsz, Ph.D., president of MeVis BreastCare (Bremen, Germany).
The U.S. Food and Drug (FDA) reported that just under 20% of the over 9,000 sites licensed to perform mammography in the United States have gone digital, and over two-thirds of the digital sites have installed CAD software on their digital workstations.
The U.S. mammography equipment market is enjoying exponential growth according to the U.S. National Electrical Manufacture?s Association (NEMA), an industry association that gathers, analyzes, and disseminates medical industry and market data supplied by Fuji (Tokyo, Japan), GE Healthcare (Chalfont St. Giles, UK), Hologic (Bedford, MA, USA), Philips Medical Systems (Best, The Netherlands), Siemens Medical Solutions (Erlangen, Germany), and other capital equipment vendors.
Since 1995, MeVis has been working in cooperation with Prof. Roland Holland, Dr. Jan Hendriks, Henny Rijken, and Dr. Nico Karssemeijer, from the University Medical Center and National Expert and Training Center (Nijmegen, the Netherlands), on a series of projects involving the various aspects of digital mammography, including the development of a suitable softcopy-reading-training format.
Under the medical leadership of Prof. Holland and Ms. Rijken, and with the support of MeVis BreastCare, Hologic, Siemens, and Barco (Kortrijk, Belgium), the first digital training workshop was held at the Leura V International Breast Cancer Conference held in Sydney, Australia, in 2004. Due to the success of the course, further workshops were held at the European Congress of Radiologists (ECR) in Vienna, the Radiological Society of North America (RSNA) and the Breast Imaging Conference (BIC) in the United States. Each helped to shape the future format for the digital workshop. The RSNA workshops were filled within days of being listed on the RSNA website--over 900 radiologists attended each workshop, both consecutive years it was offered. It is expected to ?sell out? again in 2007.
With continued support by MeVis, Barco, and Hologic, the next training workshops planned are for BIC (San Antonio, TX, USA, September 2007) and RSNA (Chicago, IL, USA, November 2007).
